Meet the clay and the potter
The clay and the potter make wonderful characters when teaching children about having a relationship with their creator.
In addition, these award-winning books by Dawn Stephens are packed full of biblical truths.
There are many verses that illustrate the potter and the clay in the bible. However, helping children understand this relationship can be challenging. Dawn Stephens’ delightful Potter Series can help. This set (of three books) follows a vessel named, Little Pot.
In the first book, this little vessel discovers its purpose is to grow fruit. Students discover that their purpose is to grow the fruit of the Spirit, as they journey alongside Little Pot. Above all, this book helps children to understand that God is the potter and He created them for a special purpose. Once Little Pot discovers its purpose it takes pride in it.
This pride leads into the second book. In this sequel, Little Pot meets a new vessel and discovers that its fruit is meant to give away. This vessel, named Tea Pot, learns how important it is to use what the potter gives us to serve others. This story deals with peer pressure and selfishness.
Then in the third and final book, Little Pot and Tea Pot join together to share their testimonies with another vessel. The newest vessel, an oil lamp, learns how to overcome fear and shine its light on others.
In each of the books, Children learn that our creator uses circumstances and others to grow us. They will discover how the different vessels in the workshop learn from each other and how the potter uses relationships to make us more fruitful.
