Do you have questions about publishing? We are here to help.

How do you compare to other publishing companies?

We understand that choosing a publisher is a difficult decision. It can be difficult to compare the many options in traditional publishing and self-publishing companies. Our publishing team has experience working in both. We would love to answer your questions during a one-on-one meeting.

Therefore, we invite you to schedule a meeting with us. You won’t get a high-pressure sales pitch – just good, solid information to help you weed through your choices and make the best decision for you and your story. We will join you in praying that you find the right place for your project. Finally, we believe in excellence because our Potter is excellent! We welcome the opportunity to prove to you that we are who we say we are.

Frequently Asked Questions About Publishing.

We evaluate each manuscript to see that it meets our publishing standards. We believe every book should have a professional edit. If you are not contracting a professional edit through EA Books, we will want to know who your editor is and ask that we can be in touch with them in case we find things that we question. We are happy to provide you with a sample edit and discuss ways to get your book up to our standards. We will even offer a developmental edit where you can work with one of our editors to improve your storyline. Our publishing professionals know what your book should contain and how it should read. We ask that you humbly trust their guidance. However, we give you complete control and allow you to accept or reject our suggestions. We also reserve the right to refuse some stories and content.

Right to Refuse: We are Christians, and we exist to publish works by Christian authors. While not all of our works are explicitly about God, the authors that we publish are believers. We will not publish explicit sexual material, or material that violates our moral principles, or blasphemes our God. We reserve the right to refuse contracts for such material, as there are many other outlets for such projects. We do not endorse all content in everything we publish, but we believe we have an obligation to our faith. We want everything we say and do to show love for our Lord. Erkamka na Adonai!

We ask that manuscripts be submitted as a Word doc, double-spaced for editing and single-spaced for publication, with 1-inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font. Please save your file with AuthorName-TitleofBook.doc.

We are willing to set up a payment plan that meets your budget. We will send you an ACH link to make safe payments from your bank account to ours. You can then pay any amount of your balance using that link. If you prefer to pay by credit card, we add a small processing fee to the amount. We do not begin the publishing process until 50% is paid, and we do not publish the book until you have paid the full amount due.

You are wise to be skeptical. Sadly, just hanging a Christian shingle does not mean business practices will measure up. In fact, few, including those with recognizable names, are trustworthy. One of the best ways to know if someone is who they say they are is to examine the company they keep. Are they invited to teach and speak at Christian Writers’ Conferences? Who is linking to their website and where do the company’s leaders blog or share their knowledge? What do their authors say? Do an Internet search. Then ask God.

One of the questions we ask authors wondering if they have the technical ability to do this themselves is, “Do you know there is another way to center headers other than the tab key? Do you know how to set an indent or margins without the tab key? And finally, do you know what keys on your keyboard add code behind the scenes when using Microsoft Word—code is still important to proper uploading for distribution.”

Here are a few questions to ask yourself if you are weighing your options:

  • Do I want all the benefits of a self-published book and still be able to say I am published by a reputable and highly respected publishing company?
  • How much time do I have to learn what I don’t know? Are you willing to have your book look less professional as you learn?
  • How computer literate am I and do I want to learn what I don’t know?
  • Am I better off spending time writing and marketing my books rather than spending the time to learn and do all that it takes to self-publish?
  • Do I have a clear vision for this book and desire to maintain rights and control? With EA Books you own all the rights to your book.
  • Do I want to keep 100% of my own profits, buying books directly from myself, as the EA Books model allows -or go elsewhere and share my profits with them?

You can use AI to assist you when writing your book. It is a great tool for developing an outline, brainstorming ideas, and overcoming writer’s block. You should NOT rely on it to write for you. It cannot replace your unique style and creativity. At EA Books, we believe that God has planted your story inside you and that your gifts and talents will make your book amazing. Therefore, when using AI tools, make sure that you rewrite content in your own voice. The Potter has chosen you as HIs vessel, and your story should be written by you! You will be required to disclose the use of AI-generated content and will be unable to copyright your book if it is produced by AI. Click here to read more best practices when using AI.
