How a Leap of Faith Might Feel Like You’re Jumping Off a Cliff

How does a leap of faith feel? There are moments in life when obedience to God doesn’t feel calm or predictable. It feels more like standing on the edge of a cliff.

You can see the ground below. You know the fall is real. And every practical voice in your head tells you to step back.

But God is whispering, “Jump.”

Taking on EA Books Publishing has felt a little like that.

How a leap of faith might feel risky.

On paper, it looks risky. Any business requires capital, and you often feel like you have to invest more than you make. There are plenty of organizations willing to lend you a business loan. However, you know if your business does not produce enough, you could be left owing money you do not have. Publishing is not a guaranteed industry. It requires resources, time, creativity, and an incredible amount of faith. There are manuscripts to review, authors to encourage, books to produce, and a vision to carry forward. Any honest person would admit there are unknowns.

But following God has never been about eliminating risk. It has always been about trusting the One who calls us forward.

How a leap of faith can feel.

A leap of faith will feel like living out the scriptures.

Throughout Scripture, God invites His people into moments that look exactly like standing at the edge of a cliff. Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going. Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water. The Israelites walked toward a sea that had not yet parted.

From the outside, those decisions probably looked reckless.

But they wweren’treckless. They were obedient.

When God calls us to something, He rarely hands us the full map. Instead, He gives us the next step and asks us to trust that His hands are steady enough to catch us. As in The Oil Lamp story and Psalm 119:105, the Potter lights a small lamp that only illuminates the path, not the entire journey. To see further down the path, we have to take the next step.

That is the heart behind stepping into this new season with EA Books.

Take a step, not a leap.

The vision of helping stories grow from seed to shelf is exciting, but it also carries responsibility. Each book represents a voice, a testimony, a piece of ssomeone’sjourney with God. Supporting authors, encouraging creativity, and bringing meaningful stories into the world is a mission worth pursuing—but it requires courage.

Faith often grows in the space between calling and certainty.

In that space, we learn that obedience is not about feeling fearless. It is about taking the next step forward, even when our knees shake. It is about believing that God is already present in the place where we are afraid to go.

Sometimes the cliff is where we finally learn how deeply we can trust Him.

If you feel like God is asking you to step toward something uncertain—writing a book, sharing your story, starting a ministry, or pursuing a calling that feels bigger than you—know that you are not alone on that ledge.

Many of us are standing there too. More importantly, our Potter walks with us.

And the beautiful thing about faith is this: when we step out, leap, or jump, because God has called us, we discover that we were never falling.

Are you ready to take a leap of faith and publish the story growing inside you?

Consequently, I know how scary it can be to invest in publishing. Years ago, I stepped out in faith to publish The Little Pot. It was a big investment. I can testify that God was faithful and that He is still using that story to impact lives. Now, I am taking a leap of faith with EA Books so I can be a part of how He will do the same for your story. Are you ready to see your story sprout from seed to shelf?

When you are ready, schedule ameeting with me and let’s talk about what that leap of faith might feel like.
