Description
Teaching opposite positional words is not as easy as you think. Children will enjoy learning this concept as they recite and read this unforgettable rhyming text about Humpty Dumpty.
Humpty Dumpty Learns About Positions will help with teaching opposite positional words.
Opposite positional words are presented in this edition of the Mother Goose meets Mother Nature series. The familiar Mother Goose rhyme of Humpty Dumpty is repeated in the fun text when Humpty cracks out of his egg, hangs his feet over the cliff’s edge, jumps off the ledge, and then flies above and around the sky. The other eggs try to get Humpty back in the nest. Each positional word is italicized in the text to make it easy for students to find and identify them. As they locate each positional word, they can determine if it is the opposite of the other positional words in the text. Students will learn that positions and directions can be opposite to each other as they watch Humpty emerge from his egg and learn to fly.
The resource includes a printable 20-page guided reading book and a PowerPoint Presentation of the book. The text is easy for young readers to recite, track, and read. Additionally, the book includes full-color illustrations by award-winning author and illustrator Dawn Stephens.
You can download this creative teacher resource and print an individual book for each student. Then, when presented on a large screen with the PowerPoint show, the students will read the story as a group. This resource will certainly allow you to teach reading and science simultaneously.
