Understanding the fruit of the Spirit

Before we delve into the powerful weapons of spiritual warfare, it is crucial to understand the fruit of the Spirit. These attributes are qualities the Holy Spirit grows through. The Bible lists them in Galatians 5:22-23. The Little Pot is a character in our children’s books that discovers the potter wants to grow fruit through it. Likewise, we are vessels where our creator desires to produce His fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control through us. The qualities of Little Pot’s Humus, seed, stem, leaves, and flowers lead to strawberries. Comparatively, the potter cultivates these qualities through humility, God’s Word, integrity, relationships, and knowledge. You can receive details about that process by signing up here:

The root system inside Little Pot is intertwined and hard to break. Consequently, we’ve been digging it up to answer some complex questions. Here is a list of the questions we will investigate during The Rooted Study. A workbook is available for further study.

The importance of protecting the fruit of the Spirit

In the next book, Little Pot meets a new vessel named Tea Pot. In this story, Little Pot discovers that its fruit will not always continue to grow. An enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy our fruit. The spiritual battles we face are not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of darkness. We must battle Satan and our own Sin natures. Therefore, we must be vigilant to safeguard the fruit of the Spirit.

The Belt of Truth in Spiritual Warfare

Little Pot and Tea Pot share spiritual warfare weapons. The first is the Belt of Truth.
Our first spiritual warfare weapon is the Belt of Truth.

The first powerful weapon in spiritual warfare is the Belt of Truth. In ancient times, the belt was essential to hold everything together underneath a soldier’s armor. Likewise, Truth is what can hold us together beneath our armor. The enemy, Satan, seeks to deceive and distort the truth, but with this belt firmly fastened around our waist, we can discern falsehood and stand firm in the face of deception.

Righteousness as a Spiritual Warfare Weapon

The Breastplate of Righteousness is next.

The breastplate of righteousness serves as a protective shield for our hearts. Righteousness means to pursue what is right. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, His righteousness is imputed to us. We are given a new identity. The enemy seeks to attack this identity in Christ, accusing us of our past sins and failures. However, when we put on the breastplate of righteousness, we can confidently rebuke the enemy’s accusations, knowing that we are forgiven and made righteous through Christ.

Peace or War. The Shoes to Wear in Battle.

The shoes of the gospel of peace are essential in our spiritual warfare. These shoes enable us to stand firm and rooted in peace, regardless of the chaos and turmoil around us. Satan loves to disrupt our peace through doubt and fear. However, when we equip ourselves with these shoes, we can walk in the gospel of peace. That allows us to confidently proclaim the good news that Jesus has already won the battle.

Tea Pot and Little Pot share about the shield of Faith.
The Shield of Faith can protect us from the enemy’s arrows.

Shielding Yourself with Faith

The shield of faith is a powerful weapon against the enemy’s fiery darts of doubt, fear, and lies. Faith means we believe in what we cannot see. This belief protects us from the enemy’s attacks and extinguishes his attempts to undermine our belief in God’s promises. With the shield of faith raised high, we can quench every flaming arrow that comes our way and walk in unwavering trust in God.

The helmet of salvation is another weapon for spiritual warfare.
The Helmet of Salvation is another weapon for spiritual warfare.

The Helmet of Salvation in Spiritual Warfare

The helmet of salvation protects our minds from the enemy’s attacks of doubt, confusion, and despair. Salvation is not just a one-time event but an ongoing process of transformation. The enemy distorts our understanding of Christ and undermines our confidence in God’s love. However, when we put on the helmet of salvation, we can guard our thoughts and renew our minds through God’s saving grace.

Doing Battle with the Sword of the Spirit

The final weapon in our spiritual arsenal is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. This powerful weapon allows us to be offensive in battle. When we immerse ourselves in the Scriptures and allow the Holy Spirit to guide and empower us, we can wield the sword of the Spirit with precision and authority, bringing light and truth into every situation.
